This was the first and last time I will be flying Frontier. We were directed to go to a gate across from our gate. The plane wasn't there yet so we had to wait for it to arrive, then deplane everyone and then wait again for the plane to be cleaned. After 45 minuites we were allowed on the plane. The 2nd plane must have had bathroom issues because we did not have any food service whatsoever. That made for a long time not to have anything considering that we had just made it to the original gate and we had no time to stop to get food or a drink.

The guy with severe body odor sat next to me. For the whole duration of the flight it was a torture. The airline should have better policy on limiting people with bad body odor to board the flight. Passengers should not be the ones to endure bad odor for the whole duration of the flight. The airline should be e the one to ensure decent air quality for ever passenger. For many of these young people, the support DASH provides will help break intergenerational cycles of abuse and enable them to build lives free of violence. Through Right to Dream, 20 transitioning youth survivors will receive wraparound supports and housing assistance for up to two years. They will be partnered with a DASH advocate who will help them find and set up their new home in the DC Metro area, check in with them regularly, and help them develop a plan for their safety. Aftercare – Clients exiting our housing programs receive ongoing aftercare support with case-management staff, who provide services and referrals as needed. We focus on the long-term success of our program participants, providing safe housing and resources to find and retain employment, along with a continuum of other services. A person can experience domestic violence in later life at the hands of intimate partners, caregivers or family members. Elder abuse reporting is on the rise, and victims often need to access specialized housing that assist not only with the abuse, but also with the other challenges related to growing older. The new facility is on a busy roadway, but Good says this facility is much safer. There is no longer public street access, where it would be easy to observe shelter operations.

Right to Dream will expand the availability of youth-friendly, survivor-focused, long-term transitional housing and services. Transitioning youth have the highest risk of being victims of domestic and/or sexual violence compared to all other age brackets. In Washington DC, domestic violence is the biggest driver of homelessness or housing instability for this age group. Vulnerable populations in this phase of life, such as LGBTQ youth, are at even greater risk.

Jeanne is currently the Global Corporate Citizenship Program Manager at Accenture. She serves on the board of Back on My Feet, a national organization that combats homelessness through the power of running along with employment and housing resources. A global citizen, Jeanne has lived and worked in South Africa and Cambodia, and she enjoys traveling and collaborating with international teams. DASH also conducts a weekly drop-in Housing Resource Clinic, informing survivors of their rights and protections under federal and local housing laws, and providing strategies for finding housing. The Housing Resource Center (HRC) is the hub of DASH’s efforts to prevent homelessness among domestic and sexual violence survivors. We assist survivors in completing housing applications, obtaining safety transfers, navigating the public housing system, and making connections to community services. Survivors can conduct housing searches in our computer lab and work one-on-one with Housing Specialists.

The Domestic Violence Support Center is a free counseling service to anyone, regardless of gender, who has experienced domestic violence. Our mission is to address, prevent, and end domestic violence and sexual assault in Asian/Pacific Islander (A/PI) communities while empowering survivors to rebuild their lives after abuse. We envision a world that is free of violence and oppression and with YOUR help, we can achieve this. Ashley has served on the DASH Board of Directors since 2017, most recently as the Vice Chair and previously as the Board Secretary and the Chair of the Fundraising and Communications committees. In addition to her service at DASH, she is a board member of the HR Leadership Forum where she previously served as Board president.
Safe House, which will be released in February 2012, is about an American traitor (Washington) who has been taken to a location off the grid in South Africa, where he is being held by an inexperienced CIA employee (Reynolds). After the safe house is attacked and the men escape, the young agent and his ruthless prisoner must survive the deadly underworld. RISE Plus includes a path to permanent housing model that allows clients to pay an increasing portion of their rent each month, so that at the end of the two years, they have taken on full payments and are largely self-sufficient.
No matter what the situation, we meet survivors where they are and strive to eliminate all barriers that prevent them from accessing safe housing. We work to ensure that all survivors have the tools and skills they need to be exactly who they choose to be and to create and maintain safe homes. She previously served on various advisory boards including Arcadia University and the Human Rights Campaign.. She also volunteers at Ward 4 Mutual Aid, benefitting residents of the 4th Ward in Washington DC. Patti earned a BS in mathematics from Arcadia University and an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. We have Spanish-speaking advocates on staff, and will provide language interpretation services for other languages, including ASL. In 2023, Safe Place of the Permian Basin sheltered 187 adults and 237 children.

We celebrate the strength of the human character that enables all survivors to recognize that they are empowered and whole, successfully managing and enjoying their lives free of abuse. We envision the day when domestic violence and sexual assault are not tolerated, and every home is a safe home. DASH works to create a culture where safe housing is a right shared by everyone. Most of filming in the District took place in downtown DC on Sunday using several streets near federal buildings and museums including Constitution Ave, Independence Ave, Pennsylvania Ave and 14th Street. While the majority of the filming has taken place in South Africa, the DC Film Office is pleased the production chose the nation’s capital as a filming location for the movie.

Safe Place is a nonprofit that provides services and emergency shelter to individuals and families who have faced domestic violence. Located at 4629 Andrews Highway in Midland, the new facility was funded through donations and offers more than double the facility space and double the residential capacity than the previous building. Our doors have remained open during COVID-19 and our work remains essential. Thanks to our community of supporters who have stepped up with us to ensure our safe housing programs and services continue to be available through this challenging time.

Domestic violence (DV) transitional housing programs provide survivors and their children with longer-term stability while offering the heightened level of security that is often required. In transitional housing, survivors typically focus on gaining financial stability so that they can obtain permanent housing. On-going supportive services at these programs address the many underlying issues related to experiencing abuse, such as post-traumatic stress disorder, depression and chronic illness. Program advocates provide intensive support around securing employment, achieving financial stability, resolving legal issues and identifying and achieving other goals for long-term stability. When it opened in November 2010, the Cornerstone Residence became the District’s largest dedicated safe housing program. Here, DASH provides 42 apartment units for survivors of domestic and sexual violence and their families in crisis.

At My Sister’s Place, we believe that our clients benefit from ongoing contact with our case-management staff to support them in their independence, including counseling, referrals to community-based services, and advocacy. By keeping in contact with our clients after they have completed our residential programs, we let them know that they are cared for and have people to call on when they need assistance or support.

Financial abuse is a major barrier to the women we serve gaining independence and safety for themselves and their children.
Rachel Schiller is a member of the Senior Executive Service at the United States Department of State where she currently works to advance U.S. interests through international organizations, including the United Nations. She previously worked as a humanitarian and conflict resolution practitioner for various international and non-profit organizations. AJ has extensive experience as a board member of mandatory, voluntary and affinity bar associations, and 501(c)(3) non-profits. AJ is a past treasurer and member of the Board of Governors of the DC Bar and is a volunteer with the Bar’s Advice and Referral Clinic and Landlord Tenant Resource Center.
He has also served as pro bono counsel in cases through The Washington Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights and Urban Affairs and Kids in Need of Defense (KIND). We are also recruiting more landlords and property managers to partner with DASH and provide housing through Right to Dream. As we grow Right to Dream, we are looking to expand our partnerships in the community to help us provide participants with more opportunities, including education and job training. 479 beds have been launched in safe houses across the U.S., providing survivors 174K safe nights annually. Our programming provides specialized support to children to help them develop healthy behaviors and relationships, including through reading hours, play groups, art therapy, and educational outings.
Right to Dream is scattered site transitional-to-permanent housing for transitioning youth (aged years) who are survivors of domestic and/or sexual violence and are experiencing housing instability or homelessness. Drawing on our experience running scattered site housing programs, Right to Dream will help transitioning youth survivors’ access safe and stable housing, recover from their trauma, and increase their empowerment and wellbeing. EP is based on the principles of the Housing First evidence-based model, to stabilize housing immediately, so other needs can be met. Participants are offered the opportunity to sign a lease on an apartment of their choosing that best meets their familial, financial and safety needs, made possible by the relationships DASH has established with landlords across the city.
We have a Bilingual Advocate on staff specifically focused on assisting the Latinx community, and our website is accessible in a variety of languages through our Google translate plug-in. We also table at community resource clinics, including with our partner DCVLP, to make our information broadly accessible to immigrant communities. RISE clients are also eligible for RISE Trust, our unconditional cash transfer program launched in January 2023. MSP currently provides regular unconditional monthly cash transfers to a select number of eligible RISE clients for up to 24 months, as funding allows, to help survivors set and meet financial goals for long-term self-sufficiency. For over 40 years, House of Ruth has provided safe and stable housing to women, children and families in the DC area who have experienced houselessness and abuse. Flight was to arrive at midnight and it arrive at 3 am. A 3 hour delay is already bad but one that has you arriving in the wee hour is just disruptive and overall unacceptable.
